SUMMARY:Accessible Digitisation for GLAMs: From Low-Cost Cameras to 3D Mode
 ls for collections
DESCRIPTION:\n\nFree training for M25 Consortium library staff \nHave you
ever wanted to use low-cost equipment to create 3D models of objects in yo
ur library\, archive\, museum or gallery to boost accessibility and engage
ment\, but you are worried about the technical skills that might be needed
? This free one-day workshop is for you!\n\nIn the morning\, you will be i
ntroduced to Raspberry Pi\, from the assembly and installation to the use
of the use of the camera command-line tools to preview\, capture\, and rec
ord high-quality images and video. You will experience how flexible and af
fordable systems such as Raspberry Pi can support applications in digital
 archiving\, environmental monitoring\, robotics\, creative media\, and res
earch documentation.\n\nThe afternoon will be dedicated on transforming ca
ptured images into 3D models using open-access photogrammetry software. Yo
u will complete image-to-model workflows\, learning how photographs can be
processed in accurate digital reconstructions suitable for archival docum
 entation\, heritage recording\, visualisation\, education\, and immersive
environments.\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, you will have practical expe
rience in camera control\, image capture\, and introductory 3D modelling t
echniques\, alongside a deeper understanding of how everything learned can
be applied at your own institution.\n\nNo prior technical experience is n
eeded. A sandwich lunch and tea and coffee will be provided.\n\nThe Univer
sity of Surrey Library was a successful applicant to the M25 Consortium In
novation Fund 2025-2026 and received funding to support M25 Consortium mem
bers being offered this training free of charge with travel bursaries avai

ide this role\, he is a Maritime Archaeologist and Research Fellow within
the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute\, specialising in 3D modelli

ion of research.\n\nDr Pedrotti is passionate about combining open technol
ogies\, immersive visualisation\, and interdisciplinary research to expand
public engagement with cultural heritage and digital scholarship.\n\nThe
