SUMMARY:Accessible Digitisation for GLAMs: From Low-Cost Cameras to 3D Mode
 ls for collections
DESCRIPTION:\n\nFree training for M25 Consortium library staff \nHave you
ever wanted to use low-cost equipment to create 3D models of objects in yo
ur gallery\, museums\, archives or library to boost accessibility and enga
gement\, but you are worried about the technical skills that might be need
ed? This free one-day workshop is for you!\n\nIn the morning\, you will be
introduced to Raspberry Pi\, from the assembly and installation to the us
e of the use of the camera command-line tools to preview\, capture\, and r
ecord high-quality images and video. You will experience how flexible and
affordable systems such as Raspberry Pi can support applications in digita
 l archiving\, environmental monitoring\, robotics\, creative media\, and r
esearch documentation.\n\nThe afternoon will be dedicated on transforming
captured images into 3D models using open-access photogrammetry software.
You will complete image-to-model workflows\, learning how photographs can
be processed in accurate digital reconstructions suitable for archival doc
 umentation\, heritage recording\, visualisation\, education\, and immersiv
e environments.\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, you will have practical ex
perience in camera control\, image capture\, and introductory 3D modelling
techniques\, alongside a deeper understanding of how everything learned c
an be applied at your own institution.\n\nNo prior technical experience is
needed. A sandwich lunch and tea and coffee will be provided.\n\nThe Univ
ersity of Surrey Library was a successful applicant to the M25 Consortium
Innovation Fund 2025-2026 and received funding to support M25 Consortium m
embers being offered this training free of charge with travel bursaries av
