 5 Aspects programme\, aimed at library staff looking to acquire additional
  skills and knowledge or staff working towards Chartership.\n\nThe positio
 n of Subject Librarian – or Liaison Librarian\, or Information Specialis
 t\, or any number of other variations – remains a key one in most academ
 ic libraries and is one that many new professionals aspire towards.\n\nHow
 ever\, it can be difficult for staff in Library Assistant or similar roles
  to make the move up into this area of library work as it is often a signi
 ficant leap up the career ladder. It can be difficult to gain experience i
 n this Subject Librarianship and few libraries have roles such as Assistan
 t Liaison Librarians that allow a smoother transition.\n\nIn this online
  event\, both recently appointed and more experienced Subject Librarians 
 will discuss their routes into Subject Librarianship and what they have le
 arned along the way. They will discuss the key aspects of the role and pro
 vide advice for those who want to take a similar path. A Subject Team mana
 ger will also discuss what skills are required for Subject Librarians and 
 what opportunities you might wish to look at in order to successfully make
  the transition. Presentations from the speakers will be followed by a pa
 nel Q&amp\;A\, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions.\n\nPr

 11.05am      Panel Q&amp\;A\n\nSpeaker biographies:\n\nAdam Edwards is
  Library Liaison Manager for Law\; Science and Technology and Collaborativ
 e Partners at Middlesex University\, London. Based on his work developing 
 information literacy practice at Middlesex University he was awarded a DPr
 of by Public Works in 2016\, jointly with his colleague Vanessa Hill.\n\nH
 e has previously worked as a library manager at Roehampton University Lond
 on\, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and London South Bank Un
 iversity.  He has extensive experience of shortlisting\, interviewing and
  training new subject librarians and from this will be offering advice on 
 what to do and what not to do when applying for this role.\n\nAnne-Lise Ha
 rding is Senior Liaison Librarian at the House of Commons Library\, workin
 g closely with Select Committees. She is a committee member of both the In
 formation Literacy Group as Government sector representative and the Londo
 n Network as social media officer at CILIP. She has a background working i
 n education libraries in management and strategic roles.\n\nIn this presen
 tation\, Anne-Lise will address knowledge brokerage\, skills and their tra
 nsferability in order to become a subject librarian as well as give an ins
 ight into working for Parliament.\n\nChloe Starling started her first qua
 lified position at Middlesex University as a Subject Liaison Librarian in 
 September 2019 after studying at University of Sheffield to gain a MA Libr
 arianship. Chloe was always passionate about books\, reading for pleasure\
 , and teaching people skills to help them in their daily lives\, whether t
 hat be for studying or finding a good restaurant! In her spare time\, Chl
 oe enjoys writing picture books\, creating comics\, and generally being ar
 ty. She likes to promote the value of reading visual narratives\, like com
 ics\, and how they can educate and entertain us in unique way.\n\nCost\n£
