 5 Aspects programme\, aimed at library staff looking to acquire additional
  skills and knowledge or staff working towards Chartership.\n\nWe all test
  out our communication skills on a daily basis whether working with team m
 embers\, mangers or anyone using our services. Whatever the situation it i
 s essential to get points of view across confidently and clearly and get t
 he outcomes needed to work effectively.\n\nAnd never more so in the curren
 t climate of video calling.\n\nInstinctively engaging the appropriate lang
 uage\, tone of voice and body language in each of these different settings
 \, especially in difficult situations\, can take some practice - particula
 rly when we are limited to a screen. Chairing meetings or simply taking pa
 rt in a team catch up takes on a different dimension and requires adjustme
 nts to the way we use our body language\, tone of voice and even the backg
 round. For many of us this last year plus has been a whole new world!\n\nA
 t this workshop communications expert Wendy Smith will cover the fundament
 al skills you need to be able to work professionally with anyone and every
 one you come in contact with. Wendy will cover a broad range of techniques
  that will improve your overall portfolio of interpersonal skills whether 
 face to face or through a screen.\n\nWhat you will learn about:\n\n 	Chair
 ing a meeting online\n 	Body language\n 	Voice and making the most of it t
 hrough different mediums\n 	Tonality\n 	Pace – how to vary it and why\n 
 	The importance of paraphrasing.\n 	How to be assertive without being aggr
 essive.\n 	The power of the pause and filtering out the fillers\n 	Words a
 nd phrases that do and don’t work\n\nTrainer biography\n\nJournalist and
  trainer\, Wendy Smith has worked in the media and education for the la
 st 25 years. Her background takes in Public Relations\, magazine and newsp
 aper journalism along with soft skills training\, coaching and teaching. S
 he has appeared on television and radio and written for publications inclu
 ding the Guardian\, FT\, The Times\, Telegraph\, The Mail on Sunday\, Di
 rector magazine.\n\nUsing her qualifications and experience in higher educ
 ation\, Wendy has created and delivered training to cover all learning s
 tyles and areas. She has trained a broad spectrum of people from chief exe
 cutives\, actors\, journalists\, sportsmen and students in communication s
 kills for presenting\, networking and assertiveness.\n\nShe has a Masters 
 in Communications from Brunel University\, a PGCE\, a postgraduate qualifi
 cation from Kingston University in Social and Behavioral issues\, is a Fel
 low of the Royal Society of Arts\, a member of the Coaching Academy and ha
 s a coaching qualification from Results Coaching Company. She runs a train
 ing company – Coralstone training and is a visiting tutor at InnovationR
