 edback and Difficult Conversation which is being held on 20th April 2012 *
  \n\n\nWhen you are facing significant challenges\, particularly in today'
 s economic climate\, whether it be squeezed rising costs\, re-structuring 
 or developing a significant project\, inevitably staff are nervous and the
 re will be some resistance to change. Change management skills are importa
 nt to the survival and success of any organisation.\n\nMore importantly\, 
 good work practices involve planning and managing change effectively.  Thi
 s in turn helps organisations to lessen the impact and take best advantage
  of the opportunities that change offers. Handling change effectively can 
 make your library stronger and more resilient. \n\nThis workshop will be f
 acilitated by Ash Charlton from Acenterprise.  He will explore why change 
 management skills are so important\, how to improve them and will provide 
 a practical toolkit of techniques for managers and supervisors to take bac
 k to the work place.  \n\nThis full-day workshop is for library supervisor
 s and managers\, and attendees should go away confident in their abilities
  to help library staff cope with change\, make the most of change\, and ma
 nage the whole process effectively in their own libraries.\n\nProgramme: \
 n\n9.30am: 		Registration\n\n10.00-12.30: 	 	Ash Charlton will lead a work
 shop to develop an understanding of how change affects individuals and tea
 ms and to provide tools to support staff through change \n\n[11 – 11.30:
 		Tea\, coffee and biscuits]\n\n12.30-1.30pm:	Lunch\n\n1.30-2.30:		Discuss
 ion groups: \n	\n* 	How to take change forward: following initial change a
 nd development\, how do we keep the change on track and not fall back on t
 he ‘old ways of doing things’ and the status quo. Discussion and chang
 e of experiences \n\n*	How is your organisation changing? What are the dri
 vers of change in your organisation? How to identify the key policies\, st
 rategies and stakeholders in organisational change. Discussion and change 
 of experiences \n\n*	Working with people during change: how to supervise p
 eople during a time of change: good practice in communicating\, supervisin
 g\, supporting\, problem-solving and team-working. Discussion and change o
 f experiences \n\n2.30-2.50:	Feedback from discussion groups\n\n2.50-3.00:
 	Tea\, coffee and biscuits\n\n3.00-4.00	Three brief cases studies of chang
 e\, from speakers within HE. Each speaker will outline and comment on chan
 ge in their workplace. Q & A sessions at the end of each case study 	\n\n*
 	Donald Lickley - A personal perspective on organisational change at H. M.
  Treasury and King’s College London.\n\n*	Combining counter and enquiry 
 services – Jo Taplin-Green\, LSE Library\; Florence Achen-Owor\, UEL Lib
