DESCRIPTION:The aim of this event is to develop an understanding of how cha
 nge affects individuals and teams and to provide tools to support staff th
 rough change. It is aimed at supervisors and junior managers within HE lib
 raries and information services who are helping staff through a period of 
 transition or who are experiencing changes in their working lives.\n\nLear
 ning outcomes:\n1	Explore different type of change and their drivers \n2	U
 nderstand the problems that change can cause for both individuals and team
 s\n3	Develop strategies for minimising anxiety\, resistance and loss of mo
 rale\n4	Examine positive aspects of change\; how to motivate and successfu
 lly implement change.\n5	Learn how and when to consult\, involve and negot
 iate and when not to\n6	Ensure that the changed service/behaviour continue
 s to be adopted \n\nOutline programme\n\nMorning:\n9.30am: Registration\n\
 n10.00 – 12.30: Ash Charlton will lead a workshop which will focus in pa
 rticular on areas 1\, 2\, 3 and 5 above: to develop an understanding of ho
 w change affects individuals and teams and to provide tools to support sta
 ff through change.\n\n12.30 – 1.30: Lunch \n\nAfternoon:\n1.30 – 2.30:
     three brief case studies of change\, from speakers within HE.  Each sp
 eaker will outline and comment on change in their workplace:\n\n•	 Devel
 oping a roving service. Karen Belsham\, Kingston University\n\n•	Innovat
 ion with space. Ken Dick\, Central St Martins\, University of the Arts Lon
 don\n\n•	 The role of staff development and training in a time of change
  and transition. Judith Preece\, University of East London \n\n2.30 – 2.
 45:  Tea/Coffee\n\n2.45 – 3.30: Participants to choose in advance a disc
 ussion group from the three on offer. \n\n•	How to take change forward: 
 following initial change and development\, how do we keep the change on tr
 ack and not fall back on the “old ways of doing things” and status quo
 .  Discussion and exchange of experiences.  Facilitator: Karen Ellis-Rees\
 n\n•	How is your organisation changing?  What are the drivers of change 
 in your organisation?  How to identify the key policies\, strategies and s
 takeholders in organisational change.  Discussion and exchange of experien
 ces. Facilitator: Ken Dick\n\n•	Working with people during change: how t
 o supervise people during a time of change: good practice in communicating
 \, supervising\, supporting\, problem-solving\, and team-working.  Discuss
