SUMMARY:Copyright For Higher Education Professionals (Professional Qualific
ations Series) [Event Ref. No. TG1/QSMAR2]
DESCRIPTION:cpd25's programme of ten two-hour workshops is devised primaril
y to support CILIP Chartership and ACLIP candidates. However\, many of the
events in the programme are highly relevant to staff working as Library A
ssistants\, Senior Library Assistants and so on. The events are aimed\, th
erefore\, at all levels of library staff - who may or may not be seeking C
ertification or Chartership\, but who wish to further their professional s
kills and development.\n\nPlaces are available on either the whole series
(£160 for cpd25 members\, £240 for external organisations) or for indivi
 dual workshops (£30 for cpd25 members\, £50 otherwise).\n\nThe event ref
erence number for booking a place on the whole series is TG1/QSALL. Please
refer to each workshop's individual description for their individual even
t reference numbers.\n\nAims and Objectives:\nUsing copyright material leg
ally even for educational purposes can be complicated. For example\, permi
ssion or a licence is always required when sharing copyright material with
multiple users\, and further permission is required for dissemination via
  electronic means – e-mail\, u-Link\, intranets.\n\nThis session aims to
break down the myths surrounding the use of copyright content for educati
onal purposes and outline permitted uses of copyright material in relation
to both the analogue and digital environments.\n\nThrough a presentation
 and interactive scenario-based session\, participants will:\n\n• develop
an understanding of the principles of copyright and statutory exceptions
for educational purposes and private research/study\n\n• gain knowledge
information on permitted uses of copyright material by staff and students
under educational copyright licensing\n\n• develop an awareness of the c
omplexity of managing copyright in a digital environment and individual an
d institutional liability for copyright infringement\n\nParticipants will
also have the opportunity to pose questions on copyright issues in general
and receive guidance on best practice and are encouraged to bring questio
ns based on real life issues for discussion.\n\nVenue: Room LG39\, Maughan
  Library\, Kings College London\; http://www.kcl.ac.uk/library/libraries/m
aughan.aspx\n\nPlease note that there are limited places available for thi
s event.\n\nCancellations less than one week before the event will be char
ged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day\, t
he full fee will be charged.\n\nTo book please use our online booking form
or email the administrator via cpd25@lse.ac.uk
