 BLE*\n\nThis fundamental course is perfect for anybody who needs an introd
 uction to the basic copyright principles and/or is reproducing\, creating\
 , sharing\, publishing\, commissioning or digitising content. This session
  will help you to understand how you can protect and use your rights\, as 
 well as on what basis you can use content created by others.\n\nOther form
 s of intellectual property will also be briefly outlined.\n\nLearning Obje
 ctives:\n\n 	Learn the basics of copyright\, its duration\, what is protec
 ted and who owns what rights.\n 	Discuss the different types of copyright-
 protected works and how copyright fits within the broader family of Intell
 ectual Property Rights.\n 	Explore the exceptions to copyright and how the
 se might be relevant to your context.\n 	Learn how to deal with copyright 
 infringements.\n 	Consider the role of licences in the context of copyrigh
 t.\n 	Discuss Creative Commons licences and funders requirements.\n 	Gain 
 an overview of specific copyright issues associated with social media and 
 risks associated in their use.\n 	Explore ‘orphan works’ and understan
 d how to manage them.\n\nFull programme\n\nThis workshop will take place o
 ver 2 afternoons: Wednesday 26th November\, 1.30-5pm\, and Thursday 27th N
 ovember\, 1.30-5pm.\n\nTrainer:\n\nNaomi Korn is one of the UK’s leading
  experts in copyright\, data protection and licensing. She has supported
  the cultural\, heritage\, charity\, education and private sectors since
  1999.\n\nAs an experienced course developer and trainer\, Naomi has led h
 undreds of workshops\, seminars and conference/webinar presentations. Naom
 i is a visiting lecturer at several Universities\, including the MA in Cu
 rating Art and Public Programmes run by the Whitechapel Art Gallery and L
 ondon South Bank University\, a course tutor and lecturer on the MSC in I
 P and Creative Industries at the University of Edinburgh (2022-2023)\, as
  well as lecturing on information law compliance at UCL\, the University o
 f York and the University of the West of England. She has also regularly l
 ectured on IP and business\, at Kingston University Business School. Naomi
  currently teaches on an evening course for Art Professionals at City Univ
 ersity and curates and chairs the programme for the annual CILIP Copyright
  Conference.\n\nFrom 2013-17 Naomi was Chair of the Libraries and Archives
  Copyright Alliance (LACA). During this period\, she led the reform of the
  UK’s copyright laws on behalf of the cultural heritage sector\, resulti
 ng in new UK exceptions to copyright in 2014. In 2017\, she was also appoi
 nted a CREATe Industry Fellow and in 2020\, Naomi was awarded the presti
 gious CILIP K&amp\;IM Walford Award for her outstanding contribution to kn
 owledge and information management. .\n\nNaomi has been a Trustee of CILIP
  from 2015–17\, and in April 2023\, joined the Editorial Board of Archiv
 es and Records: The Journal of the Archives and Records Association.\n\nNa
 omi is the author (or co-author) of several books\, articles and sectorial
  guides including: Copyright: A Practical Guide (2015) and (with Prof. Ch
 arles Oppenheim and Prof. Adrienne Muir) Information Law Compliance: Compl
 iance for Librarians\, Information Professionals and Knowledge Managers (2
