  春节 of the Fire Rooster\, journey to the East (of London) on a visit 
 to the Tower Hamlet’s Local History Library and Archives. The collection
 s in Tower Hamlets document Limehouse Chinatown\, one of the first Chinese
  communities in London. This community\, originally comprising of sailors
  working for the East India Company and the Blue Funnel Line\, soon expand
 ed into a thriving community that influenced the literary community.\n\nTh
 e archive holds a photographic collection relating to the Chinese communit
 y\, a large press cuttings collection\, Strangers Home records and Oral Hi
 story collections. We will have a tour of the library and speak to the lib
 rarian Melanie Strong who will tell us more about the collection.\n\nPleas
 e meet in front of the library.\n\nThe library is a 6 minute walk from St
 epney Green Station.\n\nTower Hamlets\nLocal History Library and Archives\
 n277 Bancroft Road\nE1 4DQ\n\nThis visit is free of charge. Bookings for v
 isits are open to members of the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries only
 .\n\nPlease note that there are limited places available for this visit.

  to booking a place on a cpd25 visit\, you find that you are unable to att
 end\, we ask that you let us know this as soon as possible. Cancellations 
 received less than three working days before the event will be charged a 
 £15 cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day\, £25 w
