DESCRIPTION:Please note that this event is also advertised in the 'Professi
 onal Qualifications Support Workshops' section of our events calendar.\n\n
 cpd25's programme of ten two-hour workshops is devised primarily to suppor
 t CILIP Chartership and ACLIP candidates. However\, many of the events in 
 the programme are highly relevant to staff working as Library Assistants\,
  Senior Library Assistants and so on. The events are aimed\, therefore\, a
 t all levels of library staff - who may or may not be seeking Certificatio
 n or Chartership\, but who wish to further their professional skills and d
 evelopment.\n\nPlaces are available on either the whole series (£160 for 
 cpd25 members\, £240 for external organisations) or for individual worksh
 ops (£30 for cpd25 members\, £50 otherwise).\n\nThe event reference numb
 er for booking a place on the whole series is TG1/QSALL. Please refer to e
 ach workshop's individual description for their individual event reference
  numbers.\n\nAim\nTo understand the importance of sound financial manageme
 nt\, sources of funding and the factors which influence financial decision
  making\n\nObjectives\nBy the end of the session participants will:\n1. Un
 derstand both the institutional and the library strategic planning context
 \n2. Appreciate the stages of the budget planning cycle\n3. Understand how
  to allocate funds to resources and services within budget constraints\n4.
  Understand how to use budget modelling to make staffing changes within fi
 nancial constraints\n5. Understand the main elements of financial control\
 n\nMethods\nA mixture of presentations\, discussion and practical budget p

 ge of group activities. No financial skills are required but an ability to
  use simple Excel spreadsheets will be helpful\, but not essential.\n\nVen
