DESCRIPTION:Leadership Development: Lessons for Aspiring Leaders \n\nCpd25 
 is delighted to offer this new and original opportunity to staff already i
 n a management role. This series of four sessions can be booked either as 
 a complete programme or individually\, and is aimed at managers with some 
 experience who are looking to develop their skills with a view to moving i
 nto a more senior role. This exciting programme will address challenges wi
 thin the Higher Education environment and will include: \n\n•	Looking at
  the differences between leadership and management\n•	Cultivating a stra
 tegic approach\n•	Developing skills and self-confidence in challenging s
 ituations\n•	Looking at future careers and moving on.\n\nThe first three
  sessions will be facilitated by Beryl Morris and the final one by Level H
 eaded\, both very popular trainers with cpd25 attendees. \n\nThe four sess
 ions are:  \n\nSession 1: Moving Beyond Management (a one-day course):  We
 dnesday\, 3rd February 2010\n\n•	Welcome and introductions \n\n•	Leade
 rship or management: Defining the difference\n- Geeks or geezers: Leadersh
 ip styles and skills \n\n•	Seeing the big picture: Cultivating a strateg
 ic approach\n- Understanding your organisation’s culture and identifying
  internal and external  influences\n- What does this mean for our service 
 ... and our staff? \n\n•	Raising the profile of our service and improvin
 g our visibility \n\n•	Acting as a catalyst for change and taking people
  with you\n\n•	Tools and techniques for problem solving\, critical and c
 reative thinking. \n\nSession 2: Dealing with Challenges: When the Going g
 ets Tough! (a half-day course): Monday\, 15th February 2010 (Afternoon) \n
 \n•	Welcome and introductions\n\n•	You’ve inherited a challenge! Tak
 ing a positive approach to negative situations such as problems with perfo
 rmance\, disaster management\, coping with ambiguity\, etc.\n\n•	Meaning
  what we say and saying what we mean\n\n•	Maintaining our skills and sel
 f confidence\n- Practical ways to bounce back and find sources of support.
 \n\nSession 3: Taking Skills & Confidence Forward: Focus on the Future\, M
 anaging Ourselves and our Careers  (a half-day course): Tuesday\, 23rd Feb
 ruary 2010 (Afternoon) \n\n•	Welcome and introductions \n\n•	Future pr
 oofing our careers: Keeping ourselves up to date \n\n•	CV and interviews
 : Presenting ourselves to maximise impact \n\n•	Maintaining a balance: M
 aking time for what really matters \n\n•	Finding sources of personal and
  professional development \n\n•	What next? Action planning session. \n\n
 Session 4: Influencing & Persuading at a High Strategic Level (a one-day c
 ourse): Tuesday\, 2nd March 2010 \n\nThis session will enable participants
  to become more influential over internal and external audiences.  It is a
 imed at managers who are already competent communicators\, but who have ha
 d little or no training in influencing.  The course will be tailored to th
 ose attending and a pre-course questionnaire will be issued to everyone ta
 king part to maximise the benefit of the event. Potential areas covered ca
 n include how to:\n\n•	Define influence\, and identify when to employ it
 \n\n•	Distinguish between push and pull influencing\n\n•	Use the 6 pri
 nciples of influence to your advantage\n\n•	Identify the right people to
  influence\n\n•	Build a network to expand your circle of influence\n\n
 •	Plan and prepare to influence an individual or a group\n\n•	Use a ra
 nge of influencing techniques to exert influence in various situations.  \

 .uk \n\nCost: \nFor members: £360 for all four sessions\, £125 per whole
  day event or £75 per ½ day event. \n\nFor non-members: £400 for all fo
 ur sessions\, £145 per whole day event or £85 per ½ day event. \n\nCanc
 ellations less than one week before the event will be charged a 50% cancel
 lation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day\, the full fee will
  be charged.
