 \n\nThe event is an introductory workshop on legal research. It is aimed a
 t those who are new to legal research\, or who would like a refresher cour
 se - for example people working on enquiry desks. It will cover good freel
 y available resources on the internet\, and does not include subscription 
 services such as Lexis or Westlaw.\n\nParticipants will do a number of exe
 rcises on a PC to search and browse free internet sources for case law\, l
 egislation\, and journal articles. They will examine search results to ide
 ntify the main features of judgments and statutes. They will also do a num
 ber of exercises from a workbook to practise their searching and navigatin
 g of the legal web. In this way\, they will explore a number of prominent 
 free resources for UK jurisdictions and for the European Union.\n\nSome su
 bject searching will also be possible on topics such as human rights\, equ
 al opportunities\, special needs & disability\, health & safety\, copyrigh
 t\, and data protection. The workshop will be an opportunity for participa
 nts to exchange ideas and tips on using the legal web.\n\nTo book for this
