 nd facilitator: Gerry Power\, Access Librarian\, Institute of Advanced Leg
 al Studies\n\nThis is an introductory workshop on legal research. It is ai
 med at those who are new to legal research\, or who would like a refresher
  course\, for example people working on enquiry desks. It will cover good 
 freely available resources on the internet\, and it does not include subsc
 ription services such as Lexis or Westlaw\, etc.\n\nParticipants will do a
  number of worked examples on PCs to search and browse for case law\, legi
 slation\, and journal articles\, using free internet sources. They will ex
 amine search results to identify the features of judgments and statutes. T
 hey will also do a number of exercises from a workbook to practise their s
 earching and navigating of the legal web. In this way\, they will explore 
 a number of prominent free resources for UK jurisdictions and for the Euro
 pean Union.\n\nSome subject searching will also be possible on topics such
  as human rights\, equal opportunities\, special needs & disability\, heal
 th & safety\, copyright\, and data protection. The workshop will be an opp
 ortunity for participants to exchange ideas and tips on using the legal we
 b.\n\nBooking Information:\n\nCost is £40 for CPD25 members\, and £60 fo
 r other institutions\, including refreshments.\n\nPlease note that there a
 re limited places available for this event. Cancellations less than one we
 ek before the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event o
 f a ‘no-show’ on the day\, the full fee will be charged.
