 rch \n9.30am - 1.00pm\n\n\nBooking Closed\n\n\n\n\nThis is an introductory
  workshop on legal research.  It is aimed at those who are new to legal re
 search\, or who would like a refresher course\, for example people working
  on enquiry desks.  It will cover good freely available resources on the i
 nternet\, and it does not include subscription services such as Lexis or W
 estlaw\, etc.\n\n \nParticipants will do a number of worked examples on PC
 s to search and browse for case law\, legislation\, and journal articles\,
  using free internet sources.  They will examine search results to identif
 y the features of judgments and statutes.  They will also do a number of e
 xercises from a workbook to practise their searching and navigating of the
  legal web.  In this way\, they will explore a number of prominent free re
 sources for UK jurisdictions and for the European Union.\n\n\nSome subject
  searching will also be possible on topics such as human rights\, equal op
 portunities\, special needs & disability\, health & safety\, copyright\, a
 nd data protection.  The workshop will be an opportunity for participants 
 to exchange ideas and tips on using the legal web.\n\nBooking Information:
 \n\nCost is £30 for CPD25 members\, £40 for M25 affiliate members and £
 50 for other institutions\, including refreshments.\n\nPlease note that th
 ere are limited places available for this event. Cancellations less than o
 ne week before the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the ev
 ent of a ‘no-show’ on the day\, the full fee will be charged.
