SUMMARY:Libraries are for learning? - Managing student behaviour in the 21s
t century [Event Ref. No. TG4/LAL]
DESCRIPTION:For those who missed it last year\, cpd25 is pleased to announc
e that this is another chance to book for Ash Charlton’s popular session
on managing student behaviour. \n\nIt's still not like it was in our day.
..while students are twittering and drinking coffee and chatting to friend
s in the Library or on the phone they are learning and multi-tasking and s
tudying at the same time. Or are they? Do Libraries still need to set boun
daries for student behaviour in order to keep the library an appropriate p
lace for learning without looking out of date?\n\nIn the morning session A
sh Charlton from Acenterprise will explain why we do need to do this and g
ive us some techniques for successfully managing potentially disruptive be
haviour. He will encourage us to better understand student behaviour\, to
see where students are coming from and appreciate the pressures that they
are now under. He will involve attendees in setting a potentially negativ
e scene positively and in dealing with any difficult situations that do ar
ise. There will also be the opportunity to look at some short case studies
and share good practice with colleagues. \n\nAttendees should go away rea
ssured that issues around student behaviour are common to all academic lib
raries and armed with ideas and techniques to use in their own libraries.\
