DESCRIPTION:cpd25 – Library & Information Courses: Applying to Study LIS 
 Brunei Gallery Room B202 27th October 2005 1.45pm - 5pm This is an invalua
 ble event aimed at graduate trainees and anyone who is considering applyin
 g for LIS courses\, whether full or part-time. CPD25 are pleased to have t
 he following speakers: Professor Sheila Corrall MA (Cambridge)\, DipLib (C
 NAA)\, MBA (Sussex)\, MSc (Southampton)\, FCLIP\, FCMI\, FRSA Sheila has h
 ad a distinguished career working in public\, special\, national and acade
 mic libraries during which time she reached the highest levels of the prof
 ession. In 2002-3 she became the first President of CILIP and in January 2
 004 she joined the University of Sheffield as Professor of Librarianship &
  Information Management in January 2004. In her current role\, her teachin
 g and research activities cover academic and special libraries\, staff dev
 elopment and workplace learning\, organisational structures\, the changing
  roles of library and information professionals and leadership development
 . Vanda Broughton MA Vanda Broughton is Lecturer in Library and Informatio
 n Studies at UCL and teaches Classification and Information Sources. Her r
 esearch interests include revision work on both the Bliss Bibliographic Cl
 assification\, and the UDC. Christopher Pressler BA (Queen’s) MA (Nottin
 gham Trent) MSc (Sheffield) MCLIP FRSA Christopher is Dean of Information 
 and Learning at Dartington College of Arts\, leading the teams responsible
  for library services\, performance technologies\, student IT support\, co
 stume and construction workshops\, lighting and sound production equipment
  and College web development. In addition to managing library services\, h
 e also carries out duties relating to student assessment\, has responsibil
 ity for copyright compliance at Dartington and takes an active role in the
  wider promotion of the College’s teaching and research. In wider perfor
 ming arts librarianship and information management research Chris works ac
 ross many fields. He has a particular interest in scholarly communications
  and the Open Archives Initiative and has been active in moving forward th
 e concept and delivery of electronic doctoral dissertations in the UK for 
 a number of years. He is currently undertaking a PhD on Elgar at King’s 
 College London and was recently elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of A
 rts. Vicky Kontou BA (Athens) MA (London) Born in Greece with a degree in 
 Archaeology and History of Art from University of Athens and a Master’s 
 degree in History of Art\, 20th century from University of London\, Goldsm
 iths College. She is currently studying for an MSc Econ in Information and
  Library Studies by distance learning at the University of Wales Aberystwy
