SUMMARY:Managing Student Behaviour: Resolving Conflicts [TG4/MSB2]
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will cover how to cope with unavoidable c
 onflicts and get win/win outcomes\, as well as how to defuse strong emotio
 n. This will be applied to specific situations suggested by participants. 
 Finally\, we will consider how to look and stay calm in these difficult si
 tuations.\n\nAttendance at the first workshop in November 2020 isn’t nec
 essary to join this workshop.\n\nSession 1 Resolving Conflicts \n\n&#x2666

 ict situations\n\n&#x2666\; Talk: looking calm\n\n&#x2666\; Chat: specific
  situations\n\n&#x2666\; Talk: defusing techniques\n\nWe begin with a quic
 k review of key learning from previous sessions\, then go into a lighthear
 ted conflict resolution game: the handbag exercise. From this we extract a
 nd develop the essential elements of conflict resolution and apply these t
 o real-life case studies to see how to get win/win solutions with students
 . We then look at how to look and sound calm when delivering these message
 s\, as well as how to apply them to other conflict scenarios.\n\nSession 2

 oup work: do’s and don’t’s\n\n&#x2666\; Debrief: defusing strong emo
 tion\n\n&#x2666\; Talk: specific situations—groups etc.\n\n&#x2666\; Cha
 t: dealing with specifics situations\n\n&#x2666\; Talk: methods for stayin
 g calm\n\nAfter defining the signs and cues of strong emotion\, we look at
  how to defuse the three ‘biggies’: anger\, panic and sorrow. Having e
 stablished best practice for these\, we then apply all the course material
  to specific practical situations such as dealing with noisy groups\, peop
 le who lie or mislead and so on: most of these will be set/suggested by pa
 rticipants. In all cases we will look at how to apply the skills covered o
 n the course. Finally\, we’ll take a look at how not to take this behavi
 our personally\, and remain calm and happy in the workplace during difficu
