DESCRIPTION:Information professionals in academic environments are highly q
 ualified\, very professional and have a unique skill set. As the world of 
 academia continues to be impacted by Government cuts\, this course provide
 s this community with the chance to explore how these skills might transfe
 r into alternative environments.\n\nErica Sosna is the Author of Your Life
  Plan and the Director of The Life Project. Her passion is helping people 
 to uncover and market their strengths\, enabling them to have careers that
  suit their aspirations\, lifestyle choices and interests.\n\nThis course 
 provides a great opportunity to think more about the life skills we have l
 earnt and to consider how to use them to further career prospects and choi
 ces\, whether we remain in our current organisation or move to a new organ
 isation or a different sector.\n\nAimed at staff from all areas and grades
  of library work\, the course offers a new outlook for individuals to take
  forward when considering their professional aspirations.\n\nThis course i
 ncludes a confidential CV/application review by Erica. Just email your C
 V/application along to her after booking your place and the session will i
 nclude private feedback on how you could make it more compelling.\n\nObje
 ctives:\n\nBy the end of the day participants will have:\n\n1. Identified 
 a career goal\n\n2. Understood what engagement at work looks and feels lik
 e\n\n3. Used lateral thinking to review their skills and passions\n\n4. Id
 entified the transferable skills that they have acquired throughout their 
 career\n\n5. Produced a market friendly ‘positioning statement’\n\n6. 
 Developed a personal project plan to move forward\n\n7. Have reviewed and 
 refined your CV/application to improve ‘sellability’\n\n**Once you hav
