DESCRIPTION:This event will feature presentations about the practicalities 
 of getting mobile hardware into the hands of users\, as well as initiative
 s that make best use of the technology by providing extra depth and range 
 of information to the Library experience.  \n\nThe case studies will featu
 re practical tips and learning for anyone wanting to embark on similar pro
 jects\, and there will be opportunities for discussion and sharing of idea

 Focussing on the practicalities of operating an iPad lending scheme in a b
 usy academic library\, details of borrowing procedures will be described a
 long with problems encountered and how these have been overcome. \n\n14.25
  - 1505:	The Senate House Library QR code task force: how we implemented Q
 R \nAndrew Preater\, Senate House Libraries\n\nEarly this year Senate Hous
 e Library set up a small 'working group of the willing' across our Informa
 tion Systems\, Library Services\, and Academic Liaison teams. We've been w
 orking to improve experience of our library for users with mobile devices 
 by implementing QR codes for various aspects of the service. We started wi
 th those that are relatively quick\, cheap\, and easy to implement. This i
 ncludes:\n\n•	Adding QR codes to the library catalogue\n•	Helping read
 ers pre-register for the library on their phone\n•	Instruction videos fo
 r self-issue and self-return\, printing\, and photocopying instructions\n
 •	Linking to information on subject collections	\n•	Promotion of e-res
 ources in the physical library space\n•	Contact information as QR on our
  signage\n\n1505 – 1515:	Questions\n\n1515 – 1530: 	Tea/coffee break\n
 \n1530 – 1610:	SCARLET: Bringing Special Collections to life with AR Jo 
 Lambert\, SCARLET Project \n\nThe SCARLET project pioneered use of Augment
 ed Reality (AR) to enhance students’ use of special collections material
 s in libraries. AR enables students to simultaneously experience the magic
  of original materials\, whilst enhancing the learning experience by ‘su
 rrounding’ the object with digitised content\; images\, texts and online
  learning resources.\n\nThe session will describe the development of SCARL
 ET\, evaluation activities to understand how AR can support student learni
 ng\, a review of lessons learned and implications for the wider community
