DESCRIPTION:Moving Beyond Management: Lessons for Aspiring Leaders\n\nCpd25
  is delighted to offer this original opportunity to staff already in a man
 agement role. This programme of three full-day sessions is aimed at manage
 rs with some experience\, who are looking to develop their skills with a v
 iew to moving into a more senior role. \n\nThe sessions will address chall
 enges within the Higher Education environment and will include:\n\n• Exp
 loring the difference between leadership and management\n• Cultivating a
  strategic approach\n• Developing skills and self-confidence in challeng
 ing situations\n• Looking at future careers possibilities and how to mai
 ntain our personal and professional development.\n\nThe sessions will be f
 acilitated by Beryl Morris\, a very popular cpd25 trainer.\n\nThe three se
 ssions are:\n\nSession 1: Moving Beyond Management: Wednesday\, 2nd Februa
 ry 2011\n\n• Welcome and introductions\; Defining and refining the agend
 a \n\n• Leadership or management: Defining the difference\; Practical ex
 ercise and discussion\; Leadership timeline \n\n• Tough times: Identifyi
 ng the challenges \n\n• Understanding the big picture: The importance of
  strategic thinking\; Guest speaker and practical work \n\n• Leadership 
 toolkit \n\n• 'Homework' for day 2 and action planning. \n\n\nSession 2:

 ck and recap\n\n• You have inherited a challenge: Case study\; Taking a 
 positive approach to negative situations \n\n• Building resilience in an
  increasingly turbulent world\; Guest speaker and discussion  \n\n• Acti

 for other institutions.\n\nCancellations less than one week before the eve
 nt will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’
  on the day\, the full fee will be charged.
