 f three\, one-day workshops and has been specifically designed for staff i
 n academic libraries and information services who have some limited experi
 ence of managing or supervising staff. This course is also suitable for th
 ose new to a management role or with experience and wanting to refresh the
 ir skills. The three sessions are linked although it is possible to attend
  just one or two rather than all three sessions. The sessions are intended
  to be practical. Participants will be encouraged to share ideas and appro
 aches to identify individual service action plans\, which can be implement
 ed on their return to work. \n\nOverall Objectives\n• To provide a co-or
 dinated training programme which reflects the specific needs of Library an
 d Information Services staff within Higher Education\n• To help particip
 ants to identify the key elements of managing and supporting staff in the 
 context of change\n• To give practical help in achieving results through
  others\, management skills and styles\, managing effective teams\, managi
 ng performance and dealing with difficult situations \n• To share good p
 ractice from within library and information services and elsewhere and enc
 ourage the exchange of ideas and experience \n• To improve individual sk
 ills and self confidence and help people to manage their own personal and 
 professional development.\n• To encourage a problem solving approach thr
 ough the preparation of individual and service action plans\n\nOutline Pro
 gramme:\n• The manager’s responsibility for leading successful teams: 
 Model of team leadership\n• Team challenge: Practical exercise in small 
 groups\n• Introduction to group dynamics\n   Team life cycle  \n   Indiv
 idual roles and responsibilities\n   Keeping teams on track\n• Managing 
 distributed and ‘virtual’ teams\n• Dealing with difficult and sensit
 ive issues in teams\n• Practical work for Day 3 (if applicable)\n\nBooki
 ng Information:\nBookings are welcome for the entire course or for any of 
 the single day sessions. The price for the entire course is £275 for cpd2
 5 members or £375 for other institutions. The single sessions cost £100 
 for cpd25 members and £140 for non-members.\n\nTo book please complete th
