 pport candidates for professional qualifications. However\, many of the ev
 ents in the programme are highly relevant to all levels of library staff 
 – who may or may not be seeking Certification or Chartership\, but who w
 ish to further their professional skills and development.\n\nThe aim of th
 is session is to understand the importance of sound financial management\,
  sources of funding and the factors which influence financial decision mak
 ing.\n\nWith a mixture of presentations\, discussion and practical budget 
 planning exercises using Excel\, we will be addressing topics such as the 
 importance of Financial Planning\, Budget Planning\, ‘The Budget Cycle\,
 ’ Budget Preparation and Allocation and Financial Control\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n

 f the budget planning cycle.\n\n*   Understand how to allocate funds to 
 resources and services within budget constraints.\n\n*   Understand how 
 to use budget modelling to make staffing changes within financial constrai
 nts.\n\n*   Understand the main elements of financial control.\n\n&nbsp\
 ;\n\nThis is an interactive workshop with a range of group activities. No 
 financial skills are required\, but an ability to use simple Excel spreads
