DESCRIPTION:cpd25′s programme of nine two-hour workshops is devised prim
 arily to support CILIP Chartership and ACLIP candidates. However\, many of
  the events in the programme are highly relevant to staff working as Libra
 ry Assistants\, Senior Library Assistants and so on. The events are aimed\
 , therefore\, at all levels of library staff – who may or may not be see
 king Certification or Chartership\, but who wish to further their professi
 onal skills and development.\n\nSpeakers: Clare Crowley\, Information Spec
 ialist: Medicine\, Research &amp\; Learning Liaison team\, Library Service
 s\, King's College London and Graeme Lockheart\, Information Specialist: A
 rts and Humanities\, Research &amp\; Learning Liaison team\, Library Servi
 ces\, King's College London.\n\nThis workshop uses a mixture of talks and 
 discussions to explore the various aspects of liaison in academic librarie
 s. By the end of the session\, participants will be able to:\n\n1. Appreci
 ate the importance of academic liaison and outreach\n\n2. Identify differe
 nt techniques for building links with staff and students and for ensuring 
 effective liaison\n\n3. Characterise the knowledge and skills needed for e
 ffective liaison in the 21st Century academic library.\n\nProgramme:\n\n1.
  Why do we need to liaise?\n\n2. How libraries manage their liaison activi
 ties\n\n3. Some liaison challenges and how to deal with them – discussio
 n exercise\n\n4. Ways of building links with staff and students\n\n5. Curr
 ent issues affecting HE/information services and implications for liaison.
 \n\nPlaces are available on either the whole series (£200 for cpd25 membe
 rs\, £300 for external organisations) or for individual workshops (£50 f
 or cpd25 members\, £75 otherwise).\n\nVenue: The Franklin Wilkins Library
