SUMMARY:Reading Lists – Challenge or Opportunity? [Event Ref. No. TG3/REA
 D]
DESCRIPTION:Twitter: @cpd25_M25 #cpd25\n\nReading lists are a perennial iss
ue in the academic Library. Resource lists\, book lists\, what are they in
the first place? How do you engage with academics? How do you meet the ne
eds of students and staff in the reading list process? How do the reading
lists systems relate to other library and university systems? Why choose
one supplier over another? What are the benefits for the library and info
rmation service e.g. with NSS? This event brings together speakers from a
number of  institutions who will be exploring the issues listed above and
explaining how they have\, or at times haven't\, managed to overcome them
.\n\nProgramme so far:\n\nElizabeth Chamberlain\, Systems and Research Lib
rarian\, Buckinghamshire New University\n'Digital reading lists – how to
herd cats maybe?!'\n\nSince 2015 we have been implementing the PTFS Rebus
reading list system within the University. This has resulted in the launc
h of the Digital Reading List system in September 2016 - http://bucks.ac.u
k/home_eu_students/library/Reading_lists.  As can be expected – this ha
s not been a smooth path with a number of logistical and technical bumps o
n the way. This paper will take you through our implementation process an
d outline the issues encountered along the way with solutions applied to d
ate. There are still a number of issues for which there seem to be no easy
answers….\n\nFull programme to follow. We currently have speakers on t
he following suppliers: LORLS\, Leganto\, Talis Aspire and My Reading.\n\
nVenue and refreshments:\n\nThe Hardy Room\, London Mathematical Society\,
  57-58 Russell Square\, London\, WC1B 4HS\n\nThis is a full day event and
will include light refreshments and lunch.\n\nCost:\n\n£105 for members a
nd £150 for other institutions.\n\n Cancellations less than one week bef
ore the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a
‘no-show’ on the day\, the full fee will be charged.\n\nTo book a plac
e please use our online booking form.
