DESCRIPTION:Twitter: @cpd25_M25 #cpd25\n\nThis is the first of 10 workshops
  that make up our cpd25 Aspects programme.\n\nReflective practice is the a
 pplication of in-depth\, focused attention to our experience\, leading to 
 the development of insight informed by critical or questioning attention t
 o our values\, principles\, and assumptions.\n\nThis workshop introduces k
 ey concepts\, techniques\, and practical tools for developing reflective p
 ractice and reflexivity for library and information work. The focus will b
 e specifically on how to reflect – the things we actually need to do to 
 develop professional effectiveness when approaching new challenges\, in an
 alysing skills gaps and learning needs towards personal growth and develop
 ment.\n\nDesigned for both new and established staff\, the workshop will i
 ntroduce core concepts and techniques in critical reflective practice and 
 reflexivity\, with signposts towards deeper theory and concepts to facilit
 ate ongoing self-study.\n\nReflection is essential for CILIP Chartership a
 nd this workshop will support those undertaking Chartership as well as bei
 ng particularly useful for supervisors\, managers\, and “leaders” at a
 ll levels wanting to develop professional effectiveness and expand their r
 epertoire beyond their preferred ways of thinking and responding.\n\nSpeak
 er: Andrew Preater\, Head of Library Information Systems at Imperial Colle
 ge London\, is a practitioner with a strategic view of library management 
 and professional development who has used techniques of critical reflectiv
 e practice in strengthening and developing teams.\n\nProgramme\n\nThe work
 shop runs for two hours including a 30 minute break. The session will be s
 plit equally between classroom-style and individual and small group learni
 ng and practical work.\n\nLearning outcomes for practical work include:\n\
 n- Expressing and analysing an experience using a reflective journaling ap
 proach\n\n- Appraising examples from delegates’ work experience using th
 e methods (or lenses) of critically reflective practice\n\n- Delegates ass
 essing their own assumptions and principles from different perspectives\n\

 ncellations less than one week before the event will be charged a 50% canc
