DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\nAnnual LISA Conference 2026 (previously called the SLA
  Conference) – Change through the lens of self-kindness\ncpd25 is please
 d to bring you our annual LISA Conference (Library and Information Supervi
 sors and Assistants) on 23rd June 2026\, designed for those who supervise 
 staff\, services or both. This is a popular and well-loved event\, giving 
 attendees the invaluable opportunity to meet and network in-person. This y
 ear will focus on managing change from the perspective of developing your 
 own self compassion and resilience in trying times.\n\nIf you would like t
 o contribute to the day by sharing a 5-minute presentation on your own exp
 eriences of managing change at a strategic level or at a team level please
  contact us at cpd25@london.ac.uk with details by Wednesday 3 June.\n\nTh
 e event will be held in Central London at Mary Ward House\nThe conference 
 will be in-person and will be a highly participative day with plenty of op
 portunities for networking – enabling attendees to share their experienc
 e and best practice. This event is open to all\, but would benefit in part
 icular Senior Library Assistants\, Information Services Supervisors\, Libr
 ary Assistants\, Information Assistants or their equivalent.\nFree online 
 tool to measure your level of resilience:\n\nOver two decades\, the Resil
 ience Institute has evaluated the resilience of over 100\,000 professiona
 ls across the globe with a peer-reviewed assessment tool. This tool can pr
 ovide an insight into a person’s capabilities and potential vulnerabilit
 ies and offers personalised suggestions on how their resilience levels can
  be improved. The link to the assessment tool will be shared with attendee
 s after the conference by certified practitioner\, Thierry Moschetti from

 mmer (The Kind Brave Leader):\n\nThis session will focus on the human side
  of change – particularly how people experience uncertainty\, why behavi
 oural and cultural shifts often lag behind structural changes\, and the pr
 actical role kindness (including self-kindness) plays in maintaining stabi
 lity\, trust\, and resilience at work.\n\n11.45am-12.15pm   Library vi

  uncertain times' - Thomas Pratt (University of East London):\n\nIn a rapi
 dly changing HE landscape\, traditional career paths are no longer guarant
 eed. This interactive session explores how attendees can navigate non-line
 ar careers\, make sustainable development choices\, and build resilience w
 ithout burnout\, It offers space for reflection\, enabling attendees to id
 entify practical tools to shape their development\, support others\, and t

 \;\n\nSpeaker biographies:\n\nHelen Rimmer is a leadership development spe
 cialist\, facilitator\, and coach specialising in workplace wellbeing\, re
 silience\, and the human dynamics of organisational life.\n\nWith over 20 
 years of senior leadership experience in libraries and higher education\, 
 Helen brings a practical\, experience-grounded perspective to professional
  development. Her work focuses on the psychological and behavioural realit
 ies of modern work\, helping individuals and teams navigate pressure\, unc
 ertainty\, and change in sustainable ways.\n\nHelen is the founder of The 
 Kind Brave Leader and Empower: The Library Skills Collective\, and is part
 icularly known for her work on kindness-centred leadership\, burnout preve
 ntion\, and emotionally intelligent workplace cultures.\n\nHer sessions co
 mbine psychology\, realism\, and warmth\, offering participants practical 
 tools that feel immediately relevant to everyday professional life.\n\n&nb
 sp\;\n\nNeil Johnstone has a successful 25-year track record within learni
 ng and development\, as well as 15 years in operational management roles (
 6 as a senior manager).\n\nNeil has worked with 10 HE clients and has been
  working with UAL for over 8 years delivering a range of interventions for
  a variety of departments.\n\nAs a manager Neil worked in the private and 
 not for profit sector. With this background he can relate to and understan
 d the needs of organisations\, the challenge of leadership\, and the reali
 ties of operational management. This enables Neil to draw on his own exper
 ience to design and deliver training that makes a difference by being rele
 vant\, practical\, and focused on achieving learning outcomes.\n\nAs a Lea
 rning and Development specialist\, Neil has worked as a consultant\, coach
  facilitator\, and trainer in all sectors. He has worked with over 40 orga
 nisations to design and deliver learning interventions to meet their speci
 fic needs.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThomas Pratt is Associate Director (User Experien
 ce and Engagement) within Library\, Archives and Learning Services at the 
 University of East London. With over 15 years' experience across the sport
 \, leisure and higher education sectors\, his career has spanned operation
 al management\, leadership\, and professional services. This includes seni
 or roles in university sport prior to transitioning into library services.
  His non-linear career path has shaped a strong interest in career develop
 ment\, leadership\, and navigating change in complex organisations.\n\n&nb
