DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\nAnnual LISA Conference 2026 (previously called the SLA
  Conference) – Change through the lens of self-kindness\ncpd25 is please
 d to bring you our annual LISA Conference (Library and Information Supervi
 sors and Assistants) on 23rd June 2026\, designed for those who supervise 
 staff\, services or both. This is a popular and well-loved event\, giving 
 attendees the invaluable opportunity to meet and network in-person. This y
 ear will focus on managing change from the perspective of developing your 
 own self compassion and resilience in trying times.\n\nThe event will be h
 eld in Central London at Mary Ward House\nThe conference will be in-person
  and will be a highly participative day with plenty of opportunities for n
 etworking – enabling attendees to share their experience and best practi
 ce. This event is open to all\, but would benefit in particular Senior Lib
 rary Assistants\, Information Services Supervisors\, Library Assistants\, 
 Information Assistants or their equivalent.\nFree online tool to measure y
 our level of resilience:\n\nOver two decades\, the Resilience Institute 
 has evaluated the resilience of over 100\,000 professionals across the glo
 be with a peer-reviewed assessment tool. This tool can provide an insight 
 into a person’s capabilities and potential vulnerabilities and offers pe
 rsonalised suggestions on how their resilience levels can be improved. The
  link to the assessment tool will be shared with attendees after the confe
 rence by certified practitioner\, Thierry Moschetti from the Resilience In

 e Leader):\n\nThis session will focus on the human side of change – part
 icularly how people experience uncertainty\, why behavioural and cultural 
 shifts often lag behind structural changes\, and the practical role kindne
 ss (including self-kindness) plays in maintaining stability\, trust\, and 
 resilience at work.\n\n11.45am-12.15pm   Library visits (LSHTM/Senate

 15pm                     ‘How do we respond to change?’ –
  Neil Johnstone\, (UAL):\n\nThis is a practical and participative session 
 exploring typical responses to change\, sharing our experiences\, recognis
 ing what is happening and\, what can be done to encourage people to embrac

        Lightning talks: attendees sharing experiences of how
  they have dealt with change at a strategic level or at a smaller level\n\

  Thomas Pratt (University of East London):\n\nIn a rapidly changing HE lan
 dscape\, traditional career paths are no longer guaranteed. This interacti
 ve session explores how attendees can navigate non-linear careers\, make s
 ustainable development choices\, and build resilience without burnout\, It
  offers space for reflection\, enabling attendees to identify practical to
 ols to shape their development\, support others\, and thrive in uncertain

 aphies:\n\nHelen Rimmer is a leadership development specialist\, facilitat
 or\, and coach specialising in workplace wellbeing\, resilience\, and the 
 human dynamics of organisational life.\n\nWith over 20 years of senior lea
 dership experience in libraries and higher education\, Helen brings a prac
 tical\, experience-grounded perspective to professional development. Her w
 ork focuses on the psychological and behavioural realities of modern work\
 , helping individuals and teams navigate pressure\, uncertainty\, and chan
 ge in sustainable ways.\n\nHelen is the founder of The Kind Brave Leader a
 nd Empower: The Library Skills Collective\, and is particularly known for 
 her work on kindness-centred leadership\, burnout prevention\, and emotion
 ally intelligent workplace cultures.\n\nHer sessions combine psychology\, 
 realism\, and warmth\, offering participants practical tools that feel imm
 ediately relevant to everyday professional life.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nNeil Johnst
 one has a successful 25-year track record within learning and development\
 , as well as 15 years in operational management roles (6 as a senior manag
 er).\n\nNeil has worked with 10 HE clients and has been working with UAL f
 or over 8 years delivering a range of interventions for a variety of depar
 tments.\n\nAs a manager Neil worked in the private and not for profit sect
 or. With this background he can relate to and understand the needs of orga
 nisations\, the challenge of leadership\, and the realities of operational
  management. This enables Neil to draw on his own experience to design and
  deliver training that makes a difference by being relevant\, practical\, 
 and focused on achieving learning outcomes.\n\nAs a Learning and Developme
 nt specialist\, Neil has worked as a consultant\, coach facilitator\, and 
 trainer in all sectors. He has worked with over 40 organisations to design
  and deliver learning interventions to meet their specific needs.\n\n&nbsp
 \;\n\nThomas Pratt is Associate Director (User Experience and Engagement) 
 within Library\, Archives and Learning Services at the University of East 
 London. With over 15 years' experience across the sport\, leisure and high
 er education sectors\, his career has spanned operational management\, lea
 dership\, and professional services. This includes senior roles in univers
 ity sport prior to transitioning into library services. His non-linear car
 eer path has shaped a strong interest in career development\, leadership\,
  and navigating change in complex organisations.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nCost:\n\n£
