 erence 2026 (previously called the SLA Conference) – Change through the 
 lens of self-kindness\ncpd25 is pleased to bring you our annual LISA Confe
 rence (Library and Information Supervisors and Assistants) on 23rd June 20
 26\, designed for those who supervise staff\, services or both. This is a 
 popular and well-loved event\, giving attendees the invaluable opportunity
  to meet and network in-person. This year will focus on managing change fr
 om the perspective of developing your own self compassion and resilience i
 n trying times.\n\nThe event will be held in Central London at Mary Ward H
 ouse\nThe conference will be in-person and will be a highly participative 
 day with plenty of opportunities for networking – enabling attendees to 
 share their experience and best practice. This event is open to all\, but 
 would benefit in particular Senior Library Assistants\, Information Servic
 es Supervisors\, Library Assistants\, Information Assistants or their equi
 valent.\nFree online tool to measure your level of resilience:\n\nOver two
  decades\, the Resilience Institute has evaluated the resilience of over
  100\,000 professionals across the globe with a peer-reviewed assessment t
 ool. This tool can provide an insight into a person’s capabilities and p
 otential vulnerabilities and offers personalised suggestions on how their 
 resilience levels can be improved. The link to the assessment tool will be
  shared with attendees after the conference by certified practitioner\, Th
 ierry Moschetti from the Resilience Institute.\nProgramme:\n9.30am

 am      Keynote address and workshop – ‘Kindness in times of 
 change’\, Helen Rimmer (The Kind Brave Leader):\n\nThis session will foc
 us on the human side of change – particularly how people experience unce
 rtainty\, why behavioural and cultural shifts often lag behind structural 
 changes\, and the practical role kindness (including self-kindness) plays 
 in maintaining stability\, trust\, and resilience at work.\n\n11.45am-12.1

      Lunch and networking\n\n1.15pm                   
   ‘How do we respond to change?’ – Neil Johnstone\, (UAL):\n\nThis 
 is a practical and participative session exploring typical responses to ch
 ange\, sharing our experiences\, recognising what is happening and\, what 
 can be done to encourage people to embrace change.\n\n2.15pm    
       Tea break\n\n2.30pm         Lightning 
 talks: attendees sharing experiences of how they have dealt with change at
  a strategic level or at a smaller level\n\n3pm                  
  'Career development in uncertain times' - Thomas Pratt (University of Ea
 st London):\n\nIn a rapidly changing HE landscape\, traditional career pat
 hs are no longer guaranteed. This interactive session explores how attende
 es can navigate non-linear careers\, make sustainable development choices\
 , and build resilience without burnout\, It offers space for reflection\, 
 enabling attendees to identify practical tools to shape their development\
 , support others\, and thrive in uncertain times.\n\n4pm            
         End\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSpeaker biographies:\n\nHelen Rimmer is a le
 adership development specialist\, facilitator\, and coach specialising in 
 workplace wellbeing\, resilience\, and the human dynamics of organisationa
 l life.\n\nWith over 20 years of senior leadership experience in libraries
  and higher education\, Helen brings a practical\, experience-grounded per
 spective to professional development. Her work focuses on the psychologica
 l and behavioural realities of modern work\, helping individuals and teams
  navigate pressure\, uncertainty\, and change in sustainable ways.\n\nHele
 n is the founder of The Kind Brave Leader and Empower: The Library Skills 
 Collective\, and is particularly known for her work on kindness-centred le
 adership\, burnout prevention\, and emotionally intelligent workplace cult
 ures.\n\nHer sessions combine psychology\, realism\, and warmth\, offering
  participants practical tools that feel immediately relevant to everyday p
 rofessional life.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nNeil Johnstone has a successful 25-year tr
 ack record within learning and development\, as well as 15 years in operat
 ional management roles (6 as a senior manager).\n\nNeil has worked with 10
  HE clients and has been working with UAL for over 8 years delivering a ra
 nge of interventions for a variety of departments.\n\nAs a manager Neil wo
 rked in the private and not for profit sector. With this background he can
  relate to and understand the needs of organisations\, the challenge of le
 adership\, and the realities of operational management. This enables Neil 
 to draw on his own experience to design and deliver training that makes a 
 difference by being relevant\, practical\, and focused on achieving learni
 ng outcomes.\n\nAs a Learning and Development specialist\, Neil has worked
  as a consultant\, coach facilitator\, and trainer in all sectors. He has 
 worked with over 40 organisations to design and deliver learning intervent
 ions to meet their specific needs.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThomas Pratt is Associate
  Director (User Experience and Engagement) within Library\, Archives and L
 earning Services at the University of East London. With over 15 years' exp
 erience across the sport\, leisure and higher education sectors\, his care
 er has spanned operational management\, leadership\, and professional serv
 ices. This includes senior roles in university sport prior to transitionin
 g into library services. His non-linear career path has shaped a strong in
 terest in career development\, leadership\, and navigating change in compl
 ex organisations.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nCost:\n\n£200 members\n£400 non member i
