 ternoon workshop aimed at staff with any level of responsibility for sta
 ff development in their institution. The programme will look specifically 
 at how we upskill staff to face new areas of work and new challenges\, and
  consists of a keynote talk\, followed by a workshop activity. Attendees w
 ill work in groups to share ideas and to plan staff development activities
  they can implement in their own institutions.\n\nProgramme:\n\n1.00 pm Re

  Skills Coordinator\, Cambridge University Library\n\nThe nature of the ac
 ademic library is undergoing a fundamental shift as librarians move away f
 rom traditional roles and towards a more active role in supporting the res
 earch community at their institutions. However in order to take full advan
 tage of these opportunities library staff need to develop their knowledge 
 of and confidence in the emerging area of scholarly communication. With bo
 th time and budgets tight how do managers prepare their staff for future w
 ork in academic libraries? This talk will explore some of the methods used
  by the Office of Scholarly Communication in Cambridge to develop staff kn
 owledge on topics such as Open Access and Research Data Management\, discu
 ss the challenges in implementing such programmes and how these can be ove

 This event will include light refreshments.\n\nCost:\n\n£50 for members a
