SUMMARY:Students as service partners\, increasing employability through the
  Library [TG3/PARTNERS]
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nHow can we work successfully with our students t
 o deliver our services? Is there a way of increasing student employability
  whilst improving our services?\n\nThis event explores the ways that Libra
 ries have provided opportunities for students to be partners in their Libr
 ary. Ranging from graduate traineeships &amp\; work placements to using st
 udents in research. Presenters will cover how they have offered a chance f
 or students to gain valuable skills and experience in their work places. T
 hey will share the impact it’s had on their services and the benefits fo
 r the students they’ve worked alongside.\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n1pm   Reg

  of Essex'\n\n\nSpeakers:\n\nAnna Semmens is Joint Head RCN Library and Ar
 chive Service\, which she joined in 2015 and she leads customer service\, 
 information literacy and the exhibitions and events teams. Prior to the RC
 N she had roles at Middlesex University and City of London Libraries worki
 ng in customer services\, collection development and systems.\n\n\n\n\nJes
 s Cobb joined Central Saint Martins library in January 2019 as an Assistan
 t Academic Support Librarian supporting Spatial Practices and Culture and 
 Enterprise courses\, co-supervising student shelvers and managing serial s
 ubscriptions as part of the collections team. Jess has previously worked i
 n FE libraries in London and Hereford and studied at Aberystwyth by distan
 ce learning for a library MA.\n\nDeena Maggs leads the Information and Kno
 wledge Services (IKS) team at The King’s Fund\, an independent health li
 brary. She oversees all the IKS services that support the work of the Fund
  as well as the external library services available to anyone with an inte
 rest in health and social care policy. Deena’s professional interests in
 clude the health information needs of patients and the public and collabor
 ating across library sectors. She is involved with several library interes
 t groups including the Consortium of Independent Health Libraries in Londo
 n and the CILIP/SCONUL health and social care strategy group. Before joini
 ng the Fund\, Deena worked as an information service manager for an intern
 ational law firm and before that worked in library roles in academic insti
 tutions.\n\nIulia Cinpoe has been working in academic libraries for most o
 f her career and has been in a leadership role for a number of years now. 
 Iulia has been involved in recruiting students as library support both at 
 the University of Westminster\, where she is based and at Royal Holloway w
 here she is now on a secondment as Head of Customer Services. Iulia is als
 o a qualified mentor and coach and has had opportunities to mentor student
 s who were considering a postgraduate library qualification.\n\nRachel Hea
 stie has been working at Royal Holloway more than seven years and has exte
 nsive experience in recruitment gained both in the commercial and academic
  sector. Currently Rachel co-ordinates the Extended Hours team which inclu
 des evenings and weekends\, and is a qualified First Aider and Mental Heal
 th First Aider.\n\nEmma Wisher. Having joined University of Essex Library 
 Services in 2000 as a Subject Librarian\, Emma became the first (and only)
  Student Engagement &amp\; Learning Support Manager in 2016. She was promo
 ted to another newly created role of Assistant Director User Engagement in
  2018\, and has responsibility for frontline library services at the 3 cam
 puses of the University in Colchester\, Loughton and Southend. Her special
  areas of interest are: the library as learning community\; working in par
 tnership with students\; embedding digital literacy in the curriculum and 
 collaborating with other student facing teams across the institution. She 
 has presented on student engagement at the M25 consortium annual conferenc
 e in 2018 (with her colleague Stephanie Gibson\, Information Literacy Co-o
 rdinator) and at UXLibsIII in 2017\, a version of which can be read in Use
 r Experience in Libraries: yearbook 2017. She lives in Colchester with her
  husband and their two children\, aged 7 and 4.\n\n\n\nVenue:\nWoburn Hous
