DESCRIPTION:Please note that this event is also advertised in the 'Professi
 onal Qualifications Support Workshops' section of our events calendar.\n\n
 cpd25's programme of ten two-hour workshops is devised primarily to suppor
 t CILIP Chartership and ACLIP candidates. However\, many of the events in 
 the programme are highly relevant to staff working as Library Assistants\,
  Senior Library Assistants and so on. The events are aimed\, therefore\, a
 t all levels of library staff - who may or may not be seeking Certificatio
 n or Chartership\, but who wish to further their professional skills and d
 evelopment.\n\nPlaces are available on either the whole series (£160 for 
 cpd25 members\, £240 for external organisations) or for individual worksh
 ops (£30 for cpd25 members\, £50 otherwise).\n\nThe event reference numb
 er for booking a place on the whole series is TG1/QSALL. Please refer to e
 ach workshop's individual description for their individual event reference
  numbers.\n\nSpeakers: Ella Mitchell\, Cath Johnson and Kelly Travers from
  the University of East London.\n\nThis workshop uses a mixture of talks a
 nd discussions to explore the various aspects of liaison in academic libra
 ries. By the end of the session\, participants will be able to:\n\n1. Appr
 eciate the importance of academic liaison and outreach\n2. Identify differ
 ent techniques for building links with staff and\nstudents and for ensurin
 g effective liaison.\n3. Characterise the knowledge and skills needed for 
 effective\nliaison in the 21st Century academic library.\n\nProgramme\n1. 
 Why do we need to liaise?\n2. How libraries manage their liaison activitie
 s\n3. Some liaison challenges and how to deal with them - discussion exerc
 ise\n4. Ways of building links with staff and students\n5. Current issues 
 affecting HE/information services and implications for liaison\n\nFollowed
