SUMMARY:Visit to the University of Essex Library [TG2v/Essex]
DESCRIPTION:This visit will be taking place in conjunction with a morning v
 isit to the UK Data Archive.\nPlease book onto this event if you would lik
 e to attend the whole day.\n\nThe Albert Sloman Library\, opened in 1967\,
  is one of the founding buildings of the University of Essex and is named 
 after the university’s first Vice Chancellor. In 2015\, a new extension 
 was opened to meet the needs of a growing student population and to provid
 e more tech enabled study spaces along with purpose designed space for pos
 tgraduate study and special collections. Since then additional refurbishme
 nts of the ground floor lobby and Library Reading Room have further enhanc
 ed facilities for library users and have helped facilitate better student 
 engagement and transformed perceptions of the library service across the u
 niversity. Both the Library extension and the adjacent Silberrad Student C
 entre were designed by Patel Taylor architects\, and the two buildings wer
 e jointly awarded the RIBA East Building of the Year award in 2016.\n\n&nb
 sp\;\n\nBookings for visits are free of charge but are open to members of 
 the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries only.\n\nTo reserve a space pleas
 e use our online booking form.\n\nIf subsequent to booking a place on a c
 pd25 visit you find that you are unable to attend\, we ask that you let u
 s know this as soon as possible. Cancellations received less than three wo
 rking days before the event will be charged a £15 cancellation fee. In th
 e event of a ‘no-show’ on the day\, £25 will be charged.
