DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to visit the multi award winning Town House buil
 ding at Kingston University. Designed by RIBA Gold Medal-winning Grafton A
 rchitects\, the landmark building on Kingston University’s Penrhyn Road 
 campus received the highest accolade in UK architecture winning the RIBA S
 tirling Prize in 2021. RIBA jury chair Lord Foster said:\n\n"Kingston Univ
 ersity's Town House is a theatre for life – a warehouse of ideas. It sea
 mlessly brings together student and town communities\, creating a progress
 ive new model for higher education\, well deserving of international accla
 im and attention\," he said. "In this highly original work of architecture
 \, quiet reading\, loud performance\, research and learning\, can delightf
 ully co-exist. That is no mean feat. Education must be our future – and 
 this must be the future of education."\n\nIt then went on to win the Europ
 ean Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award in
  2022. The highest accolade in European architecture. The jury praised its
  remarkable environmental quality for creating an excellent atmosphere for
  studying\, gathering\, dancing and being together.\n\nThe tour will show 
 you round the Library\, reading gardens as well as the dance studios and p
 erformance spaces. Do come and see the building for yourself.\n\nBookings 
 for visits are free of charge but are open to members of the M25 Consortiu
 m of Academic Libraries only.\n\nTo book a place please use our online boo
 king form for M25 Members.\n\nIf subsequent to booking a place on a cpd25 
 visit you find that you are unable to attend\, we ask that you let us kno
 w this as soon as possible. Cancellations received less than three working
  days before the event will be charged a £15 cancellation fee. In the eve
 nt of a ‘no-show’ on the day\, £25 will be charged.
