DESCRIPTION:Twitter - #cpd25SOGTRIP\n\nThis visit is an opportunity for r
 esearch and information professionals to view Britain’s premier family h
 istory society. The Society of Genealogists (SoG) maintains a splendid gen
 ealogical library and education centre in Clerkenwell in London.\n\nThe So
 ciety’s collections are particularly valuable for research before the st
 art of civil registration of births marriages and deaths in 1837.  The So
 ciety has many unique unpublished manuscript notes and printed and unpubli
 shed family histories. Its library contains Britain’s largest collection
  of parish register copies\, nonconformist registers\, local histories\, c
 opies of churchyard gravestone inscriptions\, poll books\, trade directori
 es\, census indexes and a wealth of information about the parishes where o

 u will be ask to store coats and bags into free lockers.  The tour will s
 tart from the Common Room.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis visit is free of charge\, ho
 wever there is a small charge for those wishing to use the SoG library res
 ources after the visit. We have agreed a discounted rate of £4 for 2 hour
 s\, or £8 for 4 hours. If you wish to access the library after the visit\
 , please indicate this in your booking\, and provide a PO number (if appli
 cable) to the cpd25 administrator.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nPlease note that there ar
