SUMMARY:Visit to the National Gallery Research Centre [TG1v/NGLib]
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nThe National Gallery Research Centre has primary res
 ponsibility for managing\, conserving and providing access to the Gallery'
 s Library and Archive collections. Your visit to the Research Centre will 
 include an introductory talk given by Alan Crookham\, Research Centre Mana
 ger\, followed by a visit to the National Gallery Library and Archives wit
 h Librarian Jonathan Franklin and Archivist Nicholas Smith.\n\nThe Nationa
 l Gallery Library was established in 1870 with the purchase of the private
  library of some 2\,000 volumes belonging to the late Sir Charles Eastlake
 \, the first Director of the National Gallery. It now contains around 100\
 ,000 printed volumes relevant to the study of the history of paintings in 
 the Western European tradition from the 13th to the early 20th century.\n\
 nThe National Gallery Archive contains records of the Gallery's activities
  from its foundation in 1824 to the present day. The archive holds public 
 records generated by the Gallery itself\, and private papers relating to i
 ndividuals or activities closely associated with the Gallery. The records 
 document the history of pictures in the Gallery's collection.\n\nhttps://w

 for visits are open to members of the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries

 ou are unable to attend\, we ask that you let us know this as soon as poss
 ible.\n\nCancellations received less than three working days before the ev
 ent will be charged a £15 cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show
 ’ on the day\, £25 will be charged.\n\nPlease note that advance booking
  is required\, you may be turned away on the day if you do not reserve you
 r place in advance.
