DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\n*THIS VISIT IS FULL AND A WAITING LIST IS AVAILABLE*
 \n\nFounded in 1707\, the Society of Antiquaries of London is Britain’s 
 oldest learned society concerned with the study and understanding of the m
 aterial past. The library holds a collection of ca. 130\,000 books and jou
 rnals on the topics of archaeology\, architectural history\, medieval deco
 rative arts\, and other subjects based on the study of the material remain
 s of the past\, as well as tracts (historic and modern)\, proclamations\, 
 and broadsides. The archive holds the Society’s institutional archive\, 
 an unbroken record of the Society’s existence and activities since its f
 irst formal meeting on 1 January 1718\, a collection of manuscripts dating
  back to the medieval period and around 300 deposited archives. This visit
  will include a tour the main library space and other onsite collections s
 torage areas. The Librarian\, Archivist and Assistant Librarian will be av
 ailable for discussion and questions.\n\nAttendees may want to allow addit
 ional time at the end of the visit to view the Magna Carta 1225 Exhibition
 \, which will not be included in the library tour.\n\nAccessibility: The M
 ain Library is accessible by wheelchair\, using a ramp and lift\, but the 
 basement stacks are not. There are no places to sit during the tour\, exce
 pt from in the main library space.\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nBookings for visits are
  open to members of the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries only.\n\n\n*T

 end\, we ask that you let us know this as soon as possible.\n\nCancellatio
 ns received less than three working days before the event will be charged 
 a £15 cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day\, £25
  will be charged.\n\nPlease note that advance booking is required. If you 
 have not received a booking confirmation email\, you won't be included on 
 the registration list and may be turned away on the day. Please email cpd2
