This event is the fifth annual cpd25 event designed for those who supervise staff, services or both.
The Audience: Senior Library Assistants, Information Services Supervisors, Library Assistants, Information Assistants (or their equivalent).
Following on from the previous successful events, the day will enable participants to discover some of the current developments in HE libraries and how they may impact on both a local and fundamental level. The day’s overall theme is around the changes to activities seen as quintessentially ‘library’.

9.30-10.00: Coffee and registration
10.00-10.30: Keynote speech Angus Brown (User Services, Imperial College)
10.30-10.45: Break
10.45-12.30: Visits Birkbeck/Senate House
12.30-13.30: Lunch
13.30-14.15: Themed breakouts
14.15-14.30: Tea and cakes
14.30-15.15: Themed breakouts
15.15-16.00: Closing & feedback – Antony Loveland, Head of Library Services, Central School of Speech & Drama.
The breakout sessions will involve attendees working in small groups to discuss the following developments:
* Ditching the desk
* Automatic renewals
* Paperless future
The feedback from each group will be arranged so as to be quick, painless and efficient – in keeping with the tone of the event.
Speaker Details:
Angus Brown
Angus Brown currently leads user services, marketing (including the library website) and enquiry and disability support at Imperial College London. Previously, he worked in a number of roles at Kings’ College London, including cataloguer, issue desk supervisor and readers advisor (Life sciences and medicine). Angus’s first library job was as library assistant in Aberdeen Public Libraries where he worked at both branch and mobile libraries. Angus is a member of M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries Steering Group, the SCONUL Focus Editorial Board and has a particular interest in library spaces and design.
Antony Loveland
Antony is a Chartered Librarian who has been working in HE libraries for over 12 years. He is currently Head of Library Services at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he is responsible for the strategic planning and operational delivery of the service. He has also been a member of cpd25 since 2003 and took over as its Chair in 2011.

Cancellations less than one week before the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day, the full fee will be charged.
