As a line manager, working in a library, do you ever wish you knew more about employment law? Would you like to be more confident in addressing any contractual issues that might arise with part-time staff or fixed-term staff? How about issues concerning maternity leave or flexible working? If you would like to learn a little more about the law relating to these matters then this interactive workshop could be for you.

The workshop will be given by Philip Lott. Philip is a specialist and practitioner in Employment Law. His ‘day job’ is as Senior Solicitor to a major teachers’ and lecturers’ union – the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL). His background is in local government and he has spent three years as a full-time legal adviser to a University. In recent years, he has designed and presented many lively and informative courses and training events for managers and HR staff in Further and Higher Education. Participants find his interactive and energetic approach both enjoyable and effective. Philip’s clients include: UCEA (the Universities and Colleges Employers’ Association) and the UPA (the Universities Personnel Association), as well as many individual old and new Universities.

This workshop will be held on the Thursday, 15th April 2010 in The Hardy Room at the London Mathematical Society, Russell Square. Website: www.lms.ac.uk.
