M25 Diversity Group Webinar: Introduction to Apprenticeship Schemes for Library and Archives, Information and Knowledge Services
M25 Diversity Group Webinar: Introduction to Apprenticeship Schemes for Library and Archives, Information and Knowledge Services
Online event, Thursday 9th November 2-4pm (Zoom)
The M25 Diversity group are hosting a webinar to share information and ideas on embedding apprenticeship positions into library and information services.
Apprenticeships combine formal learning with on-the-job experience, and they offer a different route into the profession. The first apprenticeship for our sector, the Level 3 Library, Information and Archive Services Assistant, was launched in 2019. A Level 7 Archivist and Records Management apprenticeship was launched earlier this year, and a level 7 Library, Information and Knowledge Professional apprenticeship is currently being developed.
The speakers will cover the apprenticeship scheme, its standards, how they have set them up or plan to set them up and fair recruitment. There will be a short talk from current apprentices on their experiences.
Parts of the event will be recorded.
Our confirmed speakers are:
- Claire Laybats (CILIP)
- Sally Timmins (Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education)
- Andrew Preater (Goldsmiths University)
- Jonathan Ladd, Level 7 Archivist and Record Manager apprenticeships Lead (The National Archives)
- Dr Maria Castrillo, Head of Collections Access & Research (Imperial War Museum)
- Darren Flynn (Fair Library Jobs)
- Jekaterina Ignatjeva – Apprentice Customer Experience Assistant (UWL)
- Marcin Tumidajski – Apprentice Customer Experience Assistant (UWL)
- Followed by Q & A session.
The event is open to all and free to attend. Please email e.delbecque@ucl.ac.uk to book a place.
