Twitter: #cpd25 @cpd25_M25
Information professionals in academic environments are highly qualified, very professional and have a unique skill set. As the world of academia continues to be impacted by Government cuts, this course provides this community with the chance to explore how these skills might transfer into alternative environments.
Erica Sosna is a career coach and the author of Your Life Plan. Her blogs and podcasts on the future world of work and careerswitching can be found at www.ericasosna.com. Her passion is helping people to uncover and market their strengths, enabling them to have careers that suit their aspirations, lifestyle choices and interests.
This course provides a great opportunity to think more about the life skills we have learnt and to consider how to use them to further career prospects and choices, whether we remain in our current organisation or move to a new organisation or a different sector.
Aimed at staff from all areas and grades of library work, the course offers a new outlook for individuals to take forward when considering their professional aspirations.
By the end of the day participants will have:
…used a lateral thinking technique to review their skills and experience to date.
…identified a career goal that inspires them.
…explored the barriers and beliefs that might get in the way of shifting careers.
…produced a market friendly ‘positioning statement’.
…developed a personal project plan to move forward
…reviewed and refined your CV/application to improve ‘sellability’
This course includes a confidential CV/application review by Erica. Just email your CV/application after booking your place to me@ericasosna.com and the session will include private feedback on how you could make it more compelling.
