cpd25 are pleased to offer Staff Development Officers the opportunity to hear a case study of current practise in staff development at Kingston University. There will then be a chance to discuss this and other issues associated with staff devleopment in academic institutions.

The presentation will be given by Graham Bulpitt, Director of Library Services, and Beverley Seddon, Administrative Manager Information Services.

09.30 – 10.00 Tea and Registration

10.00 – 11.00 Kingston: ‘Helping staff to succeed – a case study of staff development in Information Services at Kingston University’.

11.00 – 11.15 Tea and Coffee

11.15 – 12.10 Group discussion and sharing of ideas

12.10 – 12.30 Roundup

12.30 Lunch

Graham and Beverley will be available to work with the groups and help discussion, share thoughts and ideas etc.

The topics/themes to choose from are:

Evaluating training – how was it for you? Impact of training on staff – how is it measured? Do staff reflect training received in their work?

Ascertaining training needs[/I] – Do we really need to do a training needs analysis? Is this necessary?

Linking staff development planning into library strategy – is there a strategic approach to your training? How is training and development linked to library/IS strategy?

Flagging up training via performance reviews/appraisal – how is this fed into staff development planning? Is there feedback via this process to inform training plans?

Upon booking you will be asked to state a preference for your discussion topic, and a reserve option in case one topic is oversubscribed.

Booking Information:
Cost is £35 for CPD25 members and £60 for other institutions, including lunch and refreshments.

The morning will be followed by the cpd25 Reveiw afternoon, for cpd25 task group members only.

Please note that there are limited places available for this event. Cancellations less than one week before the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day, the full fee will be charged.
