The Barbican is a Grade II listed building and is Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue presenting a diverse range of art, music, theatre, dance, film and creative learning events. It is also home to the London Symphony Orchestra.
The Barbican Library is the City of London’s leading public lending Library. It is home to:
- A dedicated children’s library containing a wide range of books for children of all ages, story times, rhyme times and events for children and families.
- Special collections in art, music, finance and London.
- The Barbican Music Library, which has the largest collection of CDs in a UK public library, listening booths and orchestral sets for hire.

3.00 – 3.30 Music Library with the Music Librarian
3.30 – 4.00 Break – comfort – cold drinks and biscuits (chance for questions)
4.00 – 4.30 Children’s Library tour
This visit is free of charge. To reserve a space please use our online booking form. Bookings for visits are open to members of the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries only.
If, subsequent to booking a place on a cpd25 visit, you find that you are unable to attend, we ask that you let us know this as soon as possible. Cancellations received less than three working days before the event will be charged a £15 cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day, £25 will be charged.
