Career Development Day for Library and Information Assistants [TG1/CDD]

This session is aimed at staff in Library and Information Assistant roles who are looking to progress their career, or perhaps change direction. Other library staff may also find it useful if they are applying for a new job.

Session overview:
This one day course is perfect for anyone who is looking to apply for a new job. You will learn how best to complete applications forms, construct CVs and produce effective covering letters. The session will also cover the interview process with practical advice on how to prepare for, and be successful at, interview.

Expert staff from Sue Hill Recruitment will be leading the morning sessions and they bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area.

Programme:

9.30am: Arrival, registration, coffee

10.00: Welcome and overview of the day

10.10: What can you do? (Identifying your skills)

10.45: Looking for a job

11.00: The application process (forms & covering letters)

11.30: Break (tea and coffee)

11.45: The application process continues with successful CVs

12.30: Lunch

1.30: The interview process

2.45: Break (tea and coffee)

3.00: Closing thoughts

3.30pm: Finish.

Cancellations less than one week before the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day, the full fee will be charged.
