Changing library systems [TG3/Systems]

At the heart of every Academic Library is our library management system which is a major budget item and influences how our services operate, develop and engage with our users. Three different university libraries discuss their experiences of changing their library management systems from tendering to deployment.

Speaker biographies:

Karine Larose is the Manager of the Systems and Digital Assets teams at Goldsmiths University Library. She has a first degree in Informational Technology followed by a Master’s in Library Science. With a background in Information Systems and Business, her career expands over different sectors including corporate, agency, charity, and academia. She has worked on a range of systems implementation projects including Digital Asset Management systems, Reading Lists systems and Library Management systems. She recently led the systems team at Goldsmiths University Library in the LMS implementation project. Karine self-identify as (dis)able. She is passionate about digital inclusion and is determined to bring her life experiences in breaking down barriers for accessible and inclusive scholarly research.

Tundun Folami is the Systems Librarian at UWL, and  joined in March 2020 (exactly 2 days before the first lockdown). Prior to this role, Tundun was the Assistant DAM manager at the Art Fund and before that, completing an MA in Digital Asset and Media Management at King’s College London while working as a library assistant at the Wellcome Collection.

Syed Adnan Adil is a Team Manager: Systems, Subscriptions and Licensing for the Library Services at London South Bank University. He has extensive managerial experience within University and public sector libraries of two the countries: Pakistan and the UK. His professional interests are in the areas of library technologies, CPD for the working professionals and the international librarianship. Previously, he has worked in the University of West London as Library Systems Manager. He has also served in the NHS libraries in senior library management roles. In 2018, he achieved CLAHRC fellowship from The Health Foundation and as part of this scheme; he completed practice-based M.Sc. program in Improvement Sciences from the University of West London. Currently, Adnan Adil is also a PhD student at the UCL Department of Information Studies. His PhD research topic is on the future models of library management systems.

  • This session is virtual and will run via Zoom. Once your booking has been confirmed, joining instructions will be emailed the day before the event.
  • Electronic CPD attendance certificates can be provided on request. Please request via cpd25@london.ac.uk

Cancellations less than one week before the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day, the full fee will be charged.
