The Library in the Interactive Environment:
Practical use of technology to improve the student experience

Monday 23 April 2007
The Hatton Conference Centre, Hatton Garden (Chancery Lane / Farringdon Tube) http://www.etcvenues.co.uk/venues/the_hatton/?groupsectionid=101&ssid=122§ionid=122

This conference, in contrast to many events on libraries and Web 2.0, focuses on practical applications of new technologies throughout the information life-cycle of students and other users. The day opens with a review of the current situation and future needs, then looks at examples of how new technology can assist induction, current awareness, information literacy needs, tailored and personalised learning, and sharing learning, while the final speaker addresses the potential of ongoing technological development for the way we offer library services in the future.

The conference will be chaired by Jean Sykes, Librarian and Director of IT Services, LSE and Ian Snowley, President, CILIP

Exhibitors will include Talis, 3M, OCLC and the National Library for Health (NLH).
