Spend an afternoon wandering through two of London’s most unusual Museums.

First we will visit the Institute of Archaeology’s library and laboratory, one of the few university archaeology departments that have a publicly available space. We will get the opportunity to speak to Ian Carroll, the museum’s collection manager, who will tell us about the history and of the collection and show us some  interesting collection items.

We will then pass by Jeremy Bentham’s  Auto icon – an Early Modern equivalent of a profile picture.

Next we will visit  the  Grant Museum of Zoology and speak to the museum’s curator, Paolo Viscardi who will show us around. The museum is packed full of unusual items; skeletons including dodo bones, mounted animals and specimens preserved in fluid including a jar full of preserved moles .

These are part of the  UCL Museums and Collections which includes the UCL Art Museum, the Grant Museum, the Petrie Museum(Egypt), and the Institute of Archaeology.
