Morning Session
Introduction to learning and teaching skills: the successful support of e-learning

Led by: Catherine Scott
Director of Student Support, UK Healthcare Education Partnership, City University

This event is the first half of a day concentrating on the principles that underpin blended learning.

The morning’s interactive event will focus on the support of learning, especially:

How students, including adult “returners???, learn

Experiential learning, learning situations, independent learning

Formulating realistic learning outcomes

The implications for e-learning

Audience:
HE and NHS library staff who are involved in or planning to deliver information literacy training or other forms of user education and support.

This session may be attended on a stand-alone basis, in combination with the afternoon’s session: E-learning: tool not totality, or as a general introduction to the series of specialised learning and teaching topics to be run later in 2004/05.

Afternoon Session
E-learning: tool not totality

This event forms the second half of a day concentrating on the principles that underpin blended learning.

The afternoon’s event will focus on practical applications of learning support, including:

Face-to-face and written support of library users unfamiliar with e-learning

E-learning resources: the potential of virtual learning environments for healthcare staff and an online learning programme in health informatics and knowledge management for health librarians

Facilitators and presenters will include:

Louise Doolan (Imperial College London)

Mary Last (University College London NHS Trust)

Angela Horrocks (Kingston University)

Anthea Sutton (The Folio [Facilitated Learning as an Interactive Opportunity] Programme)

Audience:
HE and NHS staff who are involved in or planning to deliver information literacy training or other forms of user education and support.

This session may be attended on a stand-alone basis or in conjunction with the morning’s session: Introduction to learning and teaching skills: the successful support of e-learning.

Booking:
This full day programme is offered on a flexible format:
Each half of the day can be attended as an independent session or can be combined to make a full day

Costs are:
£60* for CPD25 members & NHS Libraries for both sessions, lunch and refreshments are included
£40 for CPD25 members & NHS Libraries for individual sessions including refreshments
£100 for other institutions, (whole day) including lunch and refreshments

(* whole day can be booked as an Institutional place to be shared between two delegates)

Please note that there are 30 places available for this event, which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Bookings will close on the 5th November 2004 and any cancellations after that date will incur a 50% cancellation fee. In the event of a “no show??? on the day 100% cancellation charges will apply.
