Are you confused by the profusion of statistics that libraries keep and wonder what they’re actually for?

In this interactive session for staff involved in keeping and using statistics we will explore why we spend so much time and energy recording management information; look at some of the pitfalls to avoid in interpreting statistics or relying on them too much; and highlight cases where carefully managed collection and deployment of statistics can help you make a case for change.

Speakers:

Angus Brown, Team Leader User Services, Imperial College

Adam Edwards, Liaison Manager, Middlesex University

Matthew Lawson, Assistant Director Teaching & Research Support, Middlesex University.

* Attendees should bring with them 3 recent examples of statistics which their service collects (gate counts, induction sessions, book acquisitions etc)*
