Visit to the UCL Ear Institute and Action on Hearing Loss Libraries [Event Ref. No. TG2V/EI]
This visit will cover a tour of the three rooms in the Library, an introduction to the collection, and a look at some archival material.
The UCL Ear Institute and Action on Hearing Loss Libraries are a collaborative venture between UCL, Action on Hearing Loss (RNID) and the NHS. The libraries are based at the Royal National Throat Nose & Ear Hospital (RNTNEH) and together constitute the largest specialist collection for audiology, deaf studies, and ear, nose and throat (ENT) or otorhinolaryngolgic (ORL) medicine in Europe.
As well as providing services to staff and students at UCL, Action on Hearing Loss, and the University College London Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust (UCLH), the libraries are open to the public and provide reference and enquiry services to anybody conducting research connected with ENT medicine, hearing, or deafness. They have 20 seats for readers on 2 floors, and a total book stock of c.15,000 items.
* Please note that to access the library collection you have to climb 47 steps/stairs as there is no lift in the building.
