This workshop is part of the cpd25 Aspects programme, aimed at library staff looking to acquire additional skills and knowledge or staff working towards Chartership.

Social Media and Marketing have become an essential tool in Academic Libraries, and often Library Staff will have responsibility for them. This introductory workshop will explore the value of using Social Media and Marketing to encourage engagement and interaction with students and staff.

The facilitators had alternative career paths before joining their university library marketing group. They will share their experience of using social media and organising marketing campaigns as a way of advertising services and also as a staff development opportunity.

Participants will have a chance to engage in a range of practical activities, designed to build their skills and confidence and prepare them to apply what they learn to their own workplace.

Everyone who works in a library can learn how to do it: you don’t need a big budget nor loads of time. It’s just a case of acknowledging some simple rules, and being creative and organised!

We hope this event will be of interest to anyone interested in Library Marketing with or without any experience.
