Lambeth Palace Library is the historic library and record office of the Archbishops of Canterbury and the national library and archive of the Church of England. Its collections have been freely available for research from 1610, when it was founded under the will of Archbishop Richard Bancroft.

The library now has a purpose-built home for the first time, designed by Wright & Wright Architects. Completed in 2020, the new Library is a sensitive addition to the site of the Grade I listed Palace and is the first new building on the site for 185 years.

This visit will comprise of a talk, a tour of the Library and an opportunity to look at a small display.

Accessibility: This tour will include stairs but can be adapted if required. Please let us know in advance by emailing if this might apply to you.


Bookings for visits are open to members of the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries only.

To reserve a space on the waiting list please use our online booking form for M25 Members.

If subsequent to booking a place on a cpd25 visit you find that you are unable to attend, we ask that you let us know this as soon as possible.

Visits are free of charge but cancellations received less than three working days before the event will be charged a £15 cancellation fee. In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day, £25 will be charged.

Please note that advance booking is required, you may be turned away on the day if you do not reserve your place in advance.
